The top #1 reason is: You are what you eat!
It is not an easy statement to make. When fully aware of what “I am what I eat” means, then it implies that we are taking full responsibility for our choices and that we fully embrace the related consequences. Accordingly when working through the I Love Me process, you do not have the choice but to eat the best quality and source identified food, simply because you deserve the best!
Reason #2: Reduce your exposure to toxic chemicals
Plants and animals are conventionally treated with:
- Fertilizers from synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge
- Ionizing radiation
- Growth hormones
What you must know
Pesticides, herbicides and insecticides are designed to kill and because their mode of action is not specific to one species, they often kill or harm organisms other than pests and insects including humans. The World Health Organization estimates that there are 3 million cases of pesticide poisoning each year and up to 220,000 deaths, primarily in developing countries.
Children, and indeed any young and developing organisms, are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of pesticides. Even very low levels of exposure during development may have adverse health effects.
Animal products are no different. Most conventionally raised livestock are fed a combination of soy and corn, 90% of which is GMO (genetically modified organism). Their feed is also laced with hormones and antibiotics. Dairy cows are given a genetically engineered bovine growth hormone called rBGH to increase milk production. The forced increase in milk production causes infections, and the animals are dosed with antibiotics. These hormones and antibiotics make their way into dairy products and, eventually, your body.

So you know what to do…turn to organic produces that are completely pesticides, antibiotics, chemicals and GMO FREE!
Reason #3: Organic food is more nutritious
Organic crops are first of all harmless, as they won’t deplete your health by putting unwanted and unnecessary toxins in your body. And are more nutritious!
There is mounting evidence that organically grown foods generate more nutrients and fewer nitrates. In a review of 400 published papers comparing organic and nonorganic foods, Soil Association Certification Ltd. Of the United Kingdom reported that organic crops were higher in essential minerals, phytonutrients, and vitamin C.
So, if for any reason you are not ready to turn 100% organic yet, try at least to avoid the “dirty dozen”. These are fruits and vegetables which you MUST have organic because they easily absorb all kind of harmful chemicals. Whereas the “clean fifteen” can be bought conventional however you should clean them well before consumption. Which basically mean: soaking them for 10mn to 15mn in spring water along with a tablespoon of vinegar to eradicate as much as possible the chemical residues.
And, as a reminder to the GMO last month release, here are the top GMO foods to avoid:
Reason #4: Organic farming respects Mother Earth!
The failed chemical-intensive agriculture system based on the ever increasing chemical and energy inputs, large scale monoculture and dependency from few multinational agro-companies led to dreadful consequences: from death of millions bees and precious pollinators insects to growing pest and weed resistance, decreasing soil fertility, widespread water contamination, increasing CO2 emissions and vulnerability to climate change, as well as systemic loss of resilience, diversity and sovereignty in the global food production now press us to make the transformational change towards biodiversity based ecological farming systems.
Organic farmers rely on crop rotation, companion planting, and animal manure in place of synthetic fertilizers, weed killers, and pesticides to control pests and maintain the quality and integrity of the soil.
So choose organic and celebrate Life! Regardless of diet reasons, organic foods are a smart priority. When opting for organic foods you make an effectual choice for personal and planetary health. Buying organically grown food—free of harmful chemicals, bursting with more nutrition, taste, and sustainable sustenance—is a direct vote for immediate health and the hopeful future of generations to come.
