The Power of Wisdom

Happy New Year!

Ah…. the significant morning you wake up on January 1st and automatically repeat the mantra to yourself that, “this year is going to be different.”  Yes! We have all been there! I personally love to make bold personal resolutions on the first day of a new year and see how long they last (unfortunately no longer than a couple of months). But this year I am vowing to myself to make only 2 resolutions instead of the typical 10- and wait for it.. I am actually going to stick to them! How? I’m going to do something different this year. I agree, I know its great to challenge ourselves, but let’s challenge ourselves wisely. Let’s aim for something that we can actually accomplish, so that it doesn’t become an effort to see it through.

Another promise I am making this year is every night before I go to bed to write down how I felt if I did stick to my resolution and how I feel if i didn’t. One of my own two resolutions for 2017 is to make more of an effort to keep in touch with everyone. It’s nice to show the people you love and care about just how much you really are thinking of them! A little love goes a long way! We all lead busy lives. But it’s really no excuse. I actually think of certain people and always vow to message or call them, but the day becomes night, and the nights become weeks. We are always on our mobile phones, so that extra 3 minutes to take a moment and message someone won’t take that much time from our hectic schedules. What are your resolutions this year? Whatever they are- remember believing in yourself is the first step to any positive change! And being committed is the next one! Here is a simple and quick smoothie recipe to start your New Year’s Day the right way!

Apple & Banana Smoothie

Serves 1

  • 2 tbsp oats
  • 1 banana, chopped
  • 1/2 apple, peeled and chopped
  • 2-3 ice cubes
  • 50ml milk
  • Pinch of Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lucuma powder

Blend all together and adjust consistency if too thick with some more ice cubes or extra milk. Enjoy straight away!
